Movie review - Supergirl (2026)
Automated copy of my Letterboxd review for Supergirl (2026)

I'm fully biased coming into this movie. I really liked the "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" comic this was based on. Lobo is one of my favourite DC characters. I like Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, and Jason Momoa from previous roles and interviews. I'm a sucker for a "revenge arc but actually healing arc" plot.
But I could not deal with the CG dog this time, it frequently broke immersion for me. For some reason it didn't bother me as much in Superman, but there were more closeups / direct actor interactions / key part of the plot this time. The individual floating hairs in zero-g were distracting.
I'm a bit disappointed they changed the ending, but adaptations gonna adapt and I can see how it could fit better with what they're doing with the rest of the current iteration of the DCU.
