Movie review - Let the Right One In (2008)

Great small film. By small I mean it feels contained and quiet and just tells it's story, without trying to do something it's not or getting in it's own way -- difficult to do while holding interest, and this does it very well. And it's a top tier vampire story.
I don't consider this a love story or romance, because I don't think the wild and confusing feelings a tween has should be fit into those categories -- but it does show those tween feelings very well, if through a historical and Swedish lens. (not so historical to me, I was about the age of these characters in the time this movie is set)
I liked a lot how the Nordic winter (persistent snow, short days) is very much present and just what the characters exist in -- at least half of the scenes are outside in the snow, night and day. Generally speaking, Hollywood does not understand how people exist in winter.
I'll likely watch this again, and will check out the US remake though my hopes are not high that it'll capture the same energy.
