Automated copy of my Letterboxd review for Companion (2025)

I enjoyed this one. It had more fun energy (at appropriate times) than recent similar films, moved at a good pace, and the duration was perfect.

High points: Sophie Thatcher is excellent across the board, the soundtrack is great, and the story sticks the landing. Low points: Jack Quaid does the same things in every role and it's boring, the whole movie has a dude bro feminism vibe, and there wasn't a lot of actual tension built due to who the characters are.

A writer and/or director with more personal experience of societal power imbalance could've added more nuance, tension, and intelligent humour to this particular story, and might've bumped this up to 5 stars for me.

Rating: 4.0 out of 5.
