Automated copy of my Letterboxd review for Maigret (2022)

I like the Maigret stories, they're very different from contemporary early 20th century British mystery stories. This film does an uninspired job of telling one of those stories. I would've liked to see anyone else in the lead role, both because Depardieu should not be working in the 2020s, and because of his performance. He's a huge presence sucking all the energy out of every scene, which is both not Maigret and a disservice to the other actors.
