This is a consumer-driven push back against the crazy End-User License Agreements (EULAs) that software and service vendors stick on everything under the sun.
I'm not big on EULAs, or their service-oriented cousins the Terms of Service (ToS). I'm fairly sure most of them aren't enforcible if they diverge from the underlying law of the land.
(and I thought I had posted this back in January, but apparently just saved it as a draft - sigh)
